Planning your wedding is complicated because there are so many things to take into consideration. However, one of the most important factors is one that often gets left – if not until the last minute – certainly until way down the line, after many of the thousand and one other things that you have to consider.
Any ideas?
It’s your wedding event table décor!
If you hadn’t thought about that just yet, it is by no means a criticism. But the simple fact is that your wedding guests will spend far more time at the table at your reception than on anything else.
The ceremony itself is usually about 30 minutes for a civil wedding, and perhaps 45 minutes for a church wedding. After that, there are the photos, and then it’s all back to the reception venue and the wedding breakfast which can happily go on for a couple of hours, three hours, or even more if it is combined with a dance or goes on into the evening.
All of which means that, after the meal itself, and the speeches, your guests are going to spend a lot of time sitting there chatting, getting up to get a drink from the bar, going back to the table and relaxing, perhaps getting up to have a dance, and then going back to the table – even if by now all the tables have been moved to the side of the room to make space for dancing.
Incidentally, this applies not just to weddings, but to things such as a 21st birthday celebration, retirement party, diamond wedding anniversary, and almost any other important occasion where a meal is involved. This is why your choice of table decoration is so important because you want it to be something that your guests will remember for many years to come.
At Kenza Creations we are nothing if not artistic. In fact, we are a team of creative artists who make our living by producing stunning décor of all kinds that will have guests at your event – whatever it may be – gasping with amazement when they first see it and talking about it for months to come.
Here are some tips and ideas to help you when it comes to table décor.
Certainly, you need it to be stunning, and a talking point. However, you do not want it to be so tall or wide that your guests cannot see each other and talk across the table! That is a very important point.
At Kenza Creations we have tons of ideas, some of which may seem very “off the wall”. But stop and think for a moment. We may have some ideas that you think are crazy – and quite right too, because we can’t all like the same things – but in amongst them you should find something that clicks with you.
For instance, what about using circular logs about an inch deep and cut from a tree branch or trunk as a base for standing flowers on? It gives a very rustic look to the table and would be great for a barn reception.
What about fairy lights? If you can get some lanterns or fishbowls you can put fairy lights in them which can run off a battery: this is a great idea for an autumn or winter wedding for when the light gets low.
Floral centrepieces are a standard, but you don’t have to have one big display. You can use smaller ones. Not only that, but you can use the same flowers as in the bride’s bouquet, but with fewer flowers and more foliage. You might even be able to save money by moving the flowers from the ceremony venue to the tables if there is enough time to do so.
Have you thought about using potted herbs? Not only do these look great, but they can add scent as well. Rosemary, thyme, lavender, basil, and more, can all look and smell great when in season.
In spring or summer, you could also use wildflowers. Somebody would have to get up and pick them, but you could have cornflowers which have a stunning blue colour, foxgloves, poppies, and even wheat stems from a wheat field.
Those are just a very few ideas for a centrepiece which is different. At Kenza Creations we can give you lots and lots more.
