When you are going to get married there are suddenly 101 things to do, if not more. You popped the question and she said “yes”. Great. But now you have your work cut out.
Probably one of the first things that you need to do is to make a list of the people that you need to invite. If you are thinking “everyone” that’s fine. That is where you need to start, but it is not where you will finish up, unless you have an unlimited budget. By all means, make a list of everyone that you would invite if you could.
The next thing to do is to separate out those whom you cannot possibly do without and who must be there at all costs. This is your “A” list, and they have to be invited.
Budget And Venue
However, the next thing to do is to consider your budget and the venue. These two go hand in hand. You need to have an idea of your venue, even if you don’t know exactly what it will be. But is it a country house, manor, village hall, or what? This will to some extent determine how many people you can invite. So, you need to consider your budget as well.
Traditionally, both sets of parents get to have a say, so it is a good idea to get them involved early on. Also, be fair with your family because both should be treated in the same way. So, if your grandparents are invited, your partner’s should be too.
Now you can start sending out the first list of invites. When you post these, you will get some people who say yes, but you may also get some no’s for one reason or another. This is not actually a problem because you now have a bit more room for the people who you would have loved to have invited on the first list if you had the room.
Another thing that is vital for your wedding is to discuss your wedding decorations. Again, you will have to take your budget into consideration here. If you are hiring the Albert Hall and want to cover it in orchids, it is going to make a very big dent in your bank balance. But there are lots of things that you can do that will look great, even on a minimal budget. You need to spend some time online to get ideas.
